Potty Training Can Be Hard

We have been trying to potty train Emma for some time now. We go through bouts of excellence and then rebellion. She will want to only wear panties and go on the potty and then she will wake up one morning and ask for a diaper. Today was a pantie day and I was excited because she has done REALLY well the past few weeks even though they were diaper days she was still using the potty for almost all #1 visits. We went on a walk with panties and had no accidents, went to lunch and had no accidents...then I try to go to a cute little scrapbook store by my house and Emma's squatting looking through a box of letters for an "E" for Emma and next thing you know there is a puddle surrounding her. She tells me to "look at the water on the floor" and I tell her it's not water you had an accident. She was very upset, but not as much so as the girl working in the store. I got the paper towels and cleaned up the mess and she got the mop and disinfected the area, but she was NOT happy about the whole thing even telling Emma, "The next time you are in here we have a potty so make sure you use it!" I know she heard me coaching Emma for next time and what we should do instead of having an accident and telling her to apologize to the girl, so was it really necessary to dig it in harder...whatever! Here is a picture of Emma's walk of shame on her way back into the house. Poor girl. Everyone pray that she wakes up tomorrow and just gets it and is a full fledged potty user. I'd be super thankful for that.
Pee pee skirt and panties in the bag and pee covered shoes in hand.

Just Because She's Cute!

Two For the Price of One!

Bath time is tough with two and even tougher when one can't sit up or control her limbs yet. This is my solution to have both girls in the bath (because Emma demands it) and to have Lauren safe from her not so cautious sister. Side Note: This is Lauren's 10th week of life and Nate's first time giving her a bath. He does A LOT of other stuff around the house, it just seems I get bath and bedtime! Yea for me.

All It Takes Is A Little Imagination

Typically Emma is easy to put to bed, but just like any other 3 year old sometimes she pulls out the stalling tactics. She'll say she wants another hug and kiss, she wants to ask me a question, she wants another book, she's thirsty, she's hungry and so on. One night while we were in the midst of a major stalling evening she says she's hungry/thirsty so I go get her bread and water (it's not jail, but it's not the Ritz Carlton either...no room service). As she is eating her bread and I am telling her the "Pink Bird Story" she looks at her bread and says, "Mommy, this looks just like your car." and you know what...it kinda did!

Our Girls Are Too Cute!

Mini photo shoot with the girls today. Nate had his hand on the delete button for this one, but it was nearing the end of about 30-45 minutes of trying to get them to both stop moving, keeping Lauren's hands out of her mouth, hair looking cute, etc. and you can tell that both of them HAVE HAD IT...I love it. Might be my most favorite pic of the day...NO, just kidding, we got some very cute shots of the little peanut butter cups and I can't wait to share.

You Can't Forget Papa

A few days ago my girlfriend Sandy and I met at The Coffee Shop (by Joe's Farm Grill) and she brought along her daughter, Ami Belle...that is Emma's little girlfriend. Sandy and I were gabbing away and all the sudden Emma tells me something about Papa, I sort of dismiss her comment and tell her, "Yes honey, I miss Papa too." 1. Because I didn't really hear what she said and 2. because I didn't really know what to tell her at that point. A moment later she jumps out of her chair and runs into the section of Joe's with the comfy couches and climbs into a man's lap and starts hugging him. I jump out of my chair and go over to remove her from strange man's lap and she says, "Mommy, it's Papa!". Now that I get a chance to look at his face...he does indeed strike a very strong resemblance to my late-father-in-law and I am looking at his kind face and his huge smile. He says that he hasn't seen his grand kids in 7 months and that they call him Papa and Emma just made his day. I tell Emma to please get out of his lap and she almost refuses. He assures me it's ok and then says she can sit there awhile. He proceeds to talk to her about her hair bow, what she wants for Christmas and so on. She eventually comes back to the table and the man continues with what looked like a business meeting, but as we get ready to leave she runs in to say goodbye to "her Papa" and gives him a big hug and tells him to have a nice day. He gives her a big hug and smiles at me and waives almost with a "Thank You" in his eye. I guess little blessings happened all over Joe's that day...That man needed a hug, Emma needed "her Papa" and I needed to know that she hadn't forgotten him.

My Little Class Clown

Emma is a very funny kid. She is always doing something silly and is a practical joker at heart. I have no doubt that she will be voted class clown down the line. Yesterday I sent her to her room to pick out clothes for the park and she came down with a white tank top, cream sweatpants, a pink tutu like skirt and yellow polka dot hat. I didn't let her wear the skirt because it was too cool outside and frowned on the tank top, but she must have Nate's Buffalo blood because I can't keep clothes or shoes on that kid and she is never cold. Anyhow, I though she looked rather cute in her own outfit.

This morning she decided to wear the goggles that go on her Rescue Swimming Puppy around the house like no big deal. She ate breakfast with them and watched her morning show. This kid is a goof ball and I love it.
